Why we run Fundraisers

Our regular Choirs and Orchestras all run fundraising events to support Wren in its charity work. These can vary from car boot sales, to busking in the streets to major events such as Ceilidhs and Concerts.

There are a number of purposes for these fundraisers:

  • A chance for the groups to rehearse together for performances
  • Performing in public to a wider range of audiences
  • Promoting Wren and its work
  • And of course raising funds for the charitable work that Wren does

Fundraising Ceilidh at Alverdiscott -

A group of 10 musicians from the Folk Orchestra of North Devon got together as ‘Strings ‘n Things’ to run a highly successful ceilidh in Alverdiscott, just south of Barnstaple. Nearly 100 people were treated to an evening of lively dances and a ploughman’s supper and the event raised over £600 for Wren after hall hire and food expenses. Special ‘thank yous’ go to the organisers - Heather, Pat and Liz and to our essential volunteers - Sue for running the kitchen, Geoff on the door and raffle and Bev for a lot of running around!
